Style Lengthy Hair For Bows

Braids are classic and beautiful.

Long hair is perfect for wearing hair bows. There are endless possibilities when it comes to styling options. You can add ribbons to braids for an elegant style perfect for a special occasion. Use bows that match your outfit to complete your look. Play it simple and chic and add bows to the top of a ponytail. Choose bows that are compatible with your hair type. Use lightweight ribbon and smaller clips for thinner hair types. Use wider barrettes for thicker hair types.

Instructions

1. Wash and condition your hair. Start with a fresh head of hair because you can wear your style the next day too, if desired. Add a tiny bit of lightweight styling product to damp hair. Comb it out and work the product through as you work out tangles.

2. Grab about a 4-inch section of hair right behind the ears and braid it until you get to the end. Secure the end with a ponytail holder. Do the exact same to the opposite side. Use a bow with a clip or barrette. Gently pull the two braids back to meet in the back of the head. Use the bow to clip the braids together. Undo the tail of the two braids. Re-braid them together to make one long tail. Secure the end with a ponytail holder.

3. Pull hair up into a ponytail. Braid the ponytail all the way down to the end. Start coiling the braid into a bun and use bobby pins as you go, securing each coil. Use a handful of loose ribbons of different shades of the same color palette. They should each be about 3 feet long. Grab the loose ribbons and treat them as one. Take the loose ends in each hand and bring them under the bun. Bring the ribbons to the top of the bun so the ends meet. Tie a knot and secure with a couple of bobby pins. Tie the hanging loose ribbon into a bow or tie a few random separate bows. Trim the ends of the bows with a small pair of scissors.

4. Try a simple style. Braid a ponytail, do a French braid, or fishtail-braid long hair and then thread a ribbon through the base ponytail holder. After you secure the base with the elastic, simply pull up on one of the wrapped elastic coils. Slip in a ribbon--about a foot long, of any width--through the hole and tie it into a bow once it is in place.

5. Pull hair back into a ponytail or a half ponytail, or keep hair down. Use a plain hairband and clip a small-to medium-sized bow onto the naked hair band. Place the accessory on the top of the head. Push bangs back into the headband or place the headband on top of the head with the bangs in front of it. Try this style the next day after you take out the braids and have wavy locks.
