Young Girls Hairstyles

Little Girls Hair Styles

Styling your little girl's hair doesn't have to be an ordeal of knot-ripping, scream-inducing torture (for either party). There are many adorable styles that are easy, quick and appeal to the girl so much that she'll start requesting her favorites. Because blow drying and styling tools are too harsh for a little girl's healthy hair, detangling sprays and water bottles work better and faster. When styling a child's hair, time is of the essence as they can become quite antsy, so try using fun terms for the hairstyles. These hairstyles can be done on dry or damp hair and require minimal effort, so your little girl can be on her way to school or play after only a few minutes.

Doggy Ears

Doggy ears are not only fun and cute, but take very little time. After brushing hair to make sure it's detangled, use a comb to create a part down the middle, dividing her hair in half all the way to the neck. Secure the side you aren't working on with a clip so it's out of the way. Using a brush, sweep up the other side into a high ponytail and secure one to two inches above her ear. Repeat on the other side, and if you'd like, use five-inch pieces of ribbon that match her outfit to tie little bows over each ponytail.

Princess Hair

Princess hair is simply hair left down with a little bit of added shine. To achieve the look, spray just a hint of detangling spray over her hair after you brush it to make sure it doesn't get too tangled. The spray has conditioners that will keep her hair shiny and looking pretty. The hair can be parted on the side, down the middle, or zigzagged. Use cute accessories such as headbands or barrettes for flair or to keep bangs out of her face if she is growing them out

Braids

There are many different ways to create a style with braids. You can do a single braid, double braids, high or low on the head. They are a great way to keep hair out of your little girl's face while ensuring that her hair will still be smooth and without tangles later. You can also make braids the night before, while the hair is damp, and take them out in the morning to create soft waves. To produce a braid, divide hair into three equal sections and let each section take a turn in the middle. Continue the pattern until the braid is as long as you want, and secure with a hair band. Like with doggy ears, tying a piece of colorful ribbon at the end of a braid is a cute way to top off your little girl's look.

Ponytails with a Twist

Another fun way to style your little girl's hair is to put retro twists on old standbys such as a plain ponytail. Try creating a side ponytail instead, or switch up how high your low you usually do your ponies. Twisting a ponytail and securing it with bobby pins to create a ballerina bun can be sleek and used for formal occasions, and scrunching a damp ponytail with hairspray creates a casual playtime look.

Special Occasions

If a special occasion arises and you want to create a slightly more glamorous hairstyle for your little one, use curlers after bath time and let the hair air dry. This is a healthy alternative to using hot styling tools like irons. Brush hair and divide into three-inch sections all over her head, using clips or bobby pins to secure. Free up one section at a time and brush out before carefully wrapping it around a curler from tip to root. When all sections have been wrapped in curlers, let hair air dry before misting with hairspray and carefully letting the curls loose. After all of the curlers have been removed, gently run your fingers through to blend the curls together and finish with another light spritz of hairspray. Top the look with a clip-in bow.
