A hair bow looks cute on any girl.
Ribbons come in all different colors, sizes and designs. They can also be used for a variety of different craft projects. One thing that they are great for is decorating a little girl's hair. Hair bows and hair accessories can cost quite a bit of money if they are purchased in a beauty store or at a boutique. However, ribbons can easily be made into cute and girly hair bows. The best part is that if you're making the bows yourself, you can match the bows with her outfits.
Instructions
French Barrette Bow
1. Apply a very thin strip of fabric glue to just the top of the French barrette.
2. Press the middle of the ribbon onto the glue; hold down the ribbon to adhere. Let the glue dry for four hours.
3. Pull up both sides of the ribbon (the right side will be referred to as "R" and the left side "L"). Crisscross the ribbon ends so that side L is over side R.
4. Wrap side R over L, and then loop it under. Hold the ribbons in that position (L will be facing up and R down).
5. Fold R into a loop, and hold it in the loop. Wrap L around the loop, and pull L through the back of the bow. The bow is now formed on the barrette.
6. Pull the bow's loops to tighten.
Hair Tie Bow
7. Cut your ribbon to make it 24 inches long.
8. Slide the ribbon through the middle of a simple hair tie. Bring both ends together in one hand so the hair tie falls in the middle of the ribbon. Tie the ribbon into a knot to keep the hair tie in place.
9. Pull the hair back into a ponytail, using the ribbon hair tie.
10. Adjust the hair tie so the knot of the ribbon is directly on top of the ponytail.
11. Pull both ends of the ribbon down the side of the ponytail, crisscross at the bottom and pull back up to the top. Tie the ribbon into a bow.
