Make handmade hair bows using craft supplies.
When you enjoy making your child's hair look beautiful, you can accent her hair by using boutique-style hair bows with whimsical curly tails. These stylish hair bows can be purchased from a specialty store, but they can be costly. One solution is to create your own custom hair bows with curly tails using a few basic materials, such as ribbons and glue, that can be purchased from any arts and crafts supply store.
Instructions
1. Cut two pieces of 1-inch wide ribbon with scissors to each measure 8 inches long.
2. Tie the pieces of ribbon into individual bows.
3. Cut four pieces of 1/2-inch wide ribbon with scissors to measure 8 inches long each.
4. Open the scissors and pull the flat of one of the scissor blades along each ribbon, starting at one end and pulling all the way to the other end. This will cause the ribbons to curl into spirals.
5. Insert a hot glue stick into the hot glue gun. Plug the hot glue gun into a wall outlet to heat it up for 10 minutes.
6. Squeeze a line of hot glue along the length of a metal hair clip. Press one end of each curled ribbon onto the metal clip. Allow the hot glue to cool for two minutes. The spiraled ribbons will hang down into tails.
7. Squeeze a dime-sized dollop of hot glue onto the middle of the hair clip and press one of the bows onto the hot glue dollop. Position the bow so that it lies horizontally. Allow the hot glue to cool for two minutes.
8. Squeeze a dime-sized dollop of hot glue onto the middle of the glued bow, and press the remaining bow vertically on top of the glued bow. Allow the hot glue to cool for two minutes before wearing the boutique hair bow.
