School uniforms can be worn stylishly.
Although school uniforms can help reduce the daily stress of figuring out what to wear in the morning, they can also be frustrating for some students who feel their personal fashion creativity is being stifled. This can be especially relevant for schools that enforce strict dress codes. Luckily, with some imagination, it can be easy to make school uniforms cute and attractive.

1. Wear shoes that stand out. School uniforms tend to be white, navy blue, brown, green, beige or black, so colorful shoes can help dramatically to spice them up. Some good examples of school-appropriate shoes that can help make uniforms "pop" include classic Mary Janes, which are available in a wide variety of colors, such as red, purple, mint green, powder blue, pink and yellow. Colorful socks can also help, even with standard black footwear.
2. Accessorize. Subtle accessories to go along with a strict school dress code can go a long way. Some fun-loving ideas for accessories that can go well with school uniforms include chunky necklaces, rings, hair bows, headbands, dangling shell earrings and scarves.
3. Apply subtle makeup. For an educational environmental, it is important that the makeup is light and not over-the-top. To give yourself a more stylish overall look, apply light mascara in a color such as brown. Apply a tinted moisturizer to give your skin a healthy glow. Wear a light lip gloss or lip stain in a pretty, feminine color such as pink or red.
4. Style your hair. Although the school's dress code may be strict, individuality can be expressed through the hair (with some limitations, however, as most schools would frown on hair dyed purple or styled in a Mohawk). Add subtle highlights to your hair, whether from a professional salon or with a product from the drugstore such as Sun-In. Straighten your hair to a mod style with the use of a straightening iron in the morning, or lightly wave your hair with a curling iron. A good hairstyle can help complete a fashionable look for any outfit, including a uniform.
