Pretty hair clips spice up an outfit and look great, but can be costly. With very little art know-how and time, it's possible to create wonderful hair barrettes for any age. One pack of metal hair clips can make several pairs of barrettes, so purchase flowers, ribbon or other trim to produce a variety of looks.
Instructions
1. Lay down newspaper to protect bare surfaces from glue drops and scrap materials.
2. Prepare the trim objects. If using rhinestones, take one out and count how many it will take to fill the surface of the clip. For silk flowers, snip the flower heads from the stems and dispose of the waste. Use ribbon to create pretty bows of any size for your clips. Do a test placement of objects before gluing to figure out the design.
3. Apply glue to the metal hair clip and start applying materials. It may be necessary to hold some of the objects to the clip with a bit of pressure to make them stick. It may help to sew through the flower and wrap the thread around the metal clip to secure.
For rhinestones, avoid touching the surface of the stone with glue since it may dull the finish.
4. Prop the project up against a book edge or other object to dry. Allow the project 24 hours to completely set in order to avoid any accidents.
