Scene kids are fashion-conscious and fashion-forward.
Scene is a music sub-culture and fashion related to emo and screamo. Although these genres are off-shoots of punk, metal, garbage and garage music, scenesters -- or scene kids-- do not dress or act in an aggressive or violent manner. They focus on expressing their individuality, creativity and eclecticism through eccentric styles and ironic accessories. Scene accessories and clothes can feature nerd, gamer, gothic, anti-establishment, anti-sexual, punk, metal and retro elements, all of which makes it very easy to confuse scene with other fashion families. To achieve a truly scene look, mix elements of scene fashion with accessories and clothing that expresses your personal tastes and ideas.
Instructions
1. Straighten your hair. Cut your hair in jagged medium to long layers. Leave sections of your hair longer for an asymmetrical style.
2. Dye your hair black, blond with skunk streaks, or in a variety of colors. Mix dye styles for a more eclectic look such as a blond and brown skunk in the front.
3. Style your hair with sweeping bangs and a voluminous crown. Tease your hair to achieve fullness.
4. Use a pale foundation. Do not apply blush.
5. Wear black eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara to create dark rings around each eye. These are called panda eyes. Angle the outer ends of the eyelid upward to achieve a more exotic look. Mix colored eye shadow on the eyelid and at the outer edge of the eyes to coordinate with hair or clothing.
6. Wear pink lipstick or matte chapstick.
7. Wear a graphic T-shirt. Accessorize with a hip-hop style hoodie, shrug, scarf, gloves or arm warmers.
8. Put on colorful pantyhose or tights. Wear ripped jeans or a short skirt over the leggings.
9. Wear canvas sneakers with graphic designs. You can wear shoes with ankle-socks or go barefoot.
10. Accessorize with bracelets, necklaces, rings, earrings, hats, chains, pins, tiaras, headbands, hair bows and buttons. Mix and match uncoordinated accessories for a more eccentric look.
