Hair styles For Putting on Headbands

Headbands can spice up an everyday look.

Headbands are one of many hair accessories that can allow for a temporary, nonpermanent change in styles. They come in several forms, from plastic to elastic, and can be suitable for a variety of occasions. Unlike other styling tools and pricey hair products, headbands can be used by anyone, regardless of their hair type, color, length or texture.

Wrap-Around

Long scarves can double as headbands when secured properly. There are also extra-long headbands, made of a stretchy material, that can be used for this same purpose. By wrapping the headband around the head and securing it with a loose knot or bow at the nape of the neck, this style keeps hair out of the face completely. It is convenient for those who want an easy hair fix in a short amount of time.

Ponytail

Spruce up a plain ponytail by choosing an interesting headband to wear along with it. Headbands can be made of plastic, wood and beads, among other materials. For a party or other social occasion, a statement headband can save a bad hair day.

Retro

Wear an elastic hairband on top of the hair for retro flair.

Choose one or two elastic headbands to wear on top of the hair, so that they cross the forehead rather than the hairline. As a nod to 1960's style, this look is both retro and fun.

Up-do

Adorn a special occasion up-do with an elegant headband. Whether the up-do is a sky-high bouffant or a classic bun, a headband lends an added touch of glamour. This is especially appropriate for proms, weddings and other formal ceremonies where the hair should be pulled back.

For Baby

Adorable headbands are appropriate for baby.

For infants who have very little or very fine hair, a headband is a viable styling option for short-term wear. Select one that is made of soft, wearable material, such as cotton, since it will not damage the baby's hair or skin. As a safety measure, keep an eye on the infant to make sure that the headband does not end up hanging around the neck.
