Copy this cute guy for a hair bow.
Little girls love hair clips; they are fun and creative. The store brands get expensive for families with fans of hair decorations, so many people have opted to make their own at home. The supplies are found easily at craft stores or in the craft section of larger retail stores. Making a monkey hair bow requires a little patience, but the result is an animal hair bow which delights the little girl who not only loves hair bows, but also loves animals.
Instructions
1. Draw a template of a monkey face on white paper, making the round face 1 inch in diameter. Create another circle 1/2 inch in diameter for the ears. Draw 1/4-inch circles as well as two 1/8-inch circles. These will be the mouth and eyes. Cut out all pieces.
2. Pin the white paper pieces to the felt. Brown felt is used for the ears and face, white felt is used for the mouth and black felt makes the eyes. Trace around all the templates with a fabric pen. Cut out all monkey pieces from the felt. Use the fabric pen to draw a smiling mouth onto the monkey mouth.
3. Glue the monkey ears to the back of the monkey head so they stick out on the sides. Glue the eyes and nose to the front of the face. Allow the glue to dry for at least one hour.
4. Cover the hair clip with brown fabric with the fabric glue. The clip will be small -- no more than 1 inch in length. Line one side of the clip with fabric measuring 1 1/4 inches. Wrap the excess under the clip and glue tightly. The fabric does not go over the clip opening; the clip will be open while the fabric is applied.
5. Glue the clip onto the back of the dried monkey head with the fabric covered side facing out. Use the fabric glue to hold the clip. Allow the creation to dry for two to four hours before using.
