Lattice is defined as an ornamental crisscross framework or pattern where laths are crossed. It can also be broadened to include hairstyling, mostly for women's hair, where the hair is combed and then styled in a crisscross pattern (also known as the diamond braid), normally in a ponytail style. But this hairstyle's creativity doesn't have to end after it's crisscrossed. There are several coloring techniques that you can deploy to add further emphasis to the hairdo.
Ribbons/Bows/Bands
One lattice hair color technique is to add decoration to the hairstyle. As you're styling your hair, add ribbons and bows to the crisscross formation to emphasize an occasion or an event. For example, if you're going out for Valentine's Day, you might include a red ribbon in the hairstyle, as it fits the theme. Or if you just want to add a little spice to your hair, include a bow in the style.
Texture
Sometimes, less is more in terms of lattice hairstyling. For example, in many people, the hair coloring is different closer to the scalp than it is when it's grown an inch or two. For those with brown hair, the color might be darker near the scalp and lighter away from it. Since a lattice ponytail crisscrosses the hair, those with such a style will showcase a natural type of hair texture, in which the hairs closest to the scalp are darker and the pieces of hair that are crisscrossed are lighter.
Coloring
Coloring is a lattice hair style technique that is both simple and challenging. It's simple because all that's needed is some hair coloring for the diamond braided portion of the hairstyle. But it's challenging because coloring this portion of the hair is best done after the hair has been styled so that there's a noticeable difference between the braided portion and the other portion.
Extensions
Not to be confused with lattice crisscrossed, or weaved, styling, some companies offer "lattice hair extensions." These are defined as virgin hair that can be worn in a variety of styles and lengths and are a natural alternative to beauty supply blend extensions. The products are available in all different lengths, styles and colors and can act as a color enhancer or color blend to your hair.
