Hair bows are a cute accessory for little dogs.
Accessorize your dog's hair with simple bows and jeweled barrettes--an adorable way to dress up your dog in canine fashion. These simple little bows can make adorable gifts for that special dog lover you know, too. Create dog bows out of holiday themed ribbon, pretty polka dots or vibrant colors for a creative way to dress up your pet or give a gift to your dog loving friends.
Instructions
1. Plug in a hot glue gun to preheat. Measure out 8-inches of ribbon and cut.
2. Cross the ribbon at both ends to begin forming your bow. The edges of the bow should be about a 1/4-inch to 1/2-inch long. Where the ribbon meets open, place a small dab of hot glue, cross the ribbon and press together. You should now have a loop at the top and an X at the bottom.
3. Place a dab of hot glue on the top of the "x" and press your thumb in the center of the loop. Push the loop down to the "x" portion of the bow to form the two sides. Press together for a moment.
4. Glue a jeweled bead or trinket into the middle of the bow. Place a dab of glue in the center of the bow where the knot would be, then press your jeweled piece into the glue, using equal pressure on both sides. Let rest for a few moments.
5. Take a plastic barrette in hand. Place a line of glue across it, then press the long, parallel portion of the bow onto the barrette. Apply equal pressure. Let rest for one minute. Then open the barrette, place a thin piece of hair in between the barrette and fasten in place. You may have to experiment with the amount of hair you secure the barrette to, as too much will not hold and too little could cause the barrette to slip out.
