Make an elastic headband for a little girl.
Make hair accessories such as bows and headbands for a little girl whether she is an infant, toddler or school-aged. By making it yourself, you save money and provide your daughter or other special little girl in your life with a thoughtful and meaningful gift that can be personalize to coordinate with her favorite colors. Ribbons also come with different designs, such as polka dots, stripes and even cartoon characters.
Instructions
Hair Bow
1. Cut a 4-inch strip of ribbon and wrap it in a circle. Glue the ends together.
2. Push the sides of the circle together and glue them together on the inside of the circle to create a bow-tie shape.
3. Cut a 1-inch strip of ribbon and wrap it around the middle of the bow-tie ribbon. Glue the ends together. The ribbon can now be glued onto a headband, hair clip or hair pin.
Stretchy Headband
4. Measure the child's head from the top of the head to the back of the neck and subtract 1/2 inch from the measurement. Place the elastic on a flat surface, shiny-side down, and make a mark at the point of the previous measurement. Cut the elastic at 4 1/2 inches past this mark.
5. Make a small loop with the extra 4 1/2 inches of elastic by picking the elastic up at the end and looping it to the mark you made. Glue the loop at the mark.
6. Loop the large length of elastic around in a circle and glue it underneath the small loop. Put a small amount of glue on the center of the inside bottom of the small loop and press the top of the small loop down to create a bow tie shape.
7. Cut a 2-inch strip of elastic and wrap it around the middle of the bow tie and glue.
