Make your own layered hair bows instead of purchasing them at a boutique.
Homemade layered hair bows allow you to customize hair accessories to match a girl's outfit. Hair bows purchased from a boutique or store can add up to a lot of money over time. Instead of purchasing hair bows, you can save time and money by making them at home with your choice of fabric. You can incorporate two different colors into a layered hair bow to add interest and detail.
Instructions
1. Look for a wide and narrow ribbons for the hair bows. Choose colors that coordinate well together or match the child's outfit.
2. Cut the wide and narrow ribbon into a 6-inch strip, 5-inch strip and 2-inch strip.
3. Place the 6-inch narrow ribbon on top of the wide ribbon. Glue the narrow ribbon centered on the wider ribbon to secure it in place. Repeat this process for the 5-inch ribbon.
4. Fold both layers into a loop by bringing both ends of the ribbon toward the center. Secure the loops in place with fabric glue.
5. Place the 6-inch ribbon loop on top of the 5-inch ribbon loop. Attach the loops together with fabric glue. Place the fabric glue in the center of each loop only.
6. Glue the 2-inch narrow fabric centered onto the 2-inch wide fabric. Wrap the strip around the center of the hair bow. Glue it in place.
7. Allow the hair bow to dry completely. Attach it to a metal hair clip with a hot glue gun.
