Red felt bows can add a festive holiday touch.
Red felt bows can be created for many relevant occasions such as adorning your door and Christmas tree, wrapping a gift for Valentine's Day with something reusable, or simply constructing a small hair bow. No matter your use for a red felt bow, the technique is the same. With some crafting supplies, a length of red felt and some basic step-by-step instructions, your decorative vision can become a reality in constructing bows from red felt material.
Instructions
1. Measure, mark and cut two strips of 3-inch-wide length of felt ,measuring 14 inches long and another strip that is 2 inches wide and 3 inches long. Use the ruler to measure twice before cutting to avoid mismatched widths or lengths.
2. Lay one of the long strips on your work surface, right side down, and fold each end into the center of the strip's length, overlapping the ends by 2 inches and secure with a straight pin.
3. Lay the second long strip onto your work surface but this time ensure that the right side is facing you. Place the folded strip onto the center of the flat strip and secure them together using the same straight pin from the center of the folded felt.
4. Wrap the center of the 12-inch piece of craft wire around the center of the two strips where the straight pin connects them and loosely tighten. Remove the pin and twist the craft wire together three times on the back of the bow frame to secure the two strips of felt together.
5. Place the center of the small felt strip over the craft wire on the front of the bow frame and secure to the front with a dab of hot glue. Turn the bow over and overlap the small strip by 1-inch and secure the ends together with hot glue ensuring that each craft wire end is extending from opposite sides of the small strip.
6. Allow the glue to cool and dry. Flip the bow back over onto your work surface so the front of the bow is facing you and straighten the bow loops, hanging ends and the small binding strip in the center so they appear neat and centered.
7. Use the craft wire ends to attach the bow to a wreath, banister or other decorated item. The wire may be trimmed if not going to be used.
