Make Hair Bow Add-ons For Cheerleader

Create perfect hair bows for your cheerleading team.

It's best for cheerleaders to wear their hair off of their faces while they're performing. However, instead of having the girls each wear their hair up with different bows, create uniformity even with their hair accessories. One of the more popular hair bow for cheerleaders to wear are korker bows. These bows look like pom-poms and are very easy to make. With a few, inexpensive items, you can create korker bows for the entire team.

Instructions

1. Turn your oven on to "Bake" at 275 degrees. You will need to bake the ribbons to form them into a permanent spiral shape.

2. Hold the first dowel in dominant hand. Place the ribbon at the top of the dowel, securing it with a clothespin. Slowly, rotate the dowel clockwise to spin the ribbon around it. Make sure the ribbon is wound tightly down the entire length of the dowel.

3. Clip a clothespin onto the very bottom of the dowel to secure the bottom of the ribbon. Cut off any remaining ribbon that hangs past the bottom of the dowel.

4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 until you have as many ribbon dowels as will fit on one cookie sheet. Keep in mind that you will need 30 ribbons for each hair accessory.

5. Place each ribbon dowel onto one cookie sheet. Place the cookie sheet into the oven and bake the ribbons for 25 minutes. Take the cookie sheet out of the oven when finished; set aside for 30 minutes to cool. While the first cookie sheet is cooling, you can place another batch of ribbons into the oven.

6. Remove the clothespins from every dowel when the ribbons have cooled down. Carefully and slowly, slide the dowel from the middle of the wound ribbons.

7. Lay the elastic cord onto a flat surface. Stack three rows of 10 curly ribbons on top of the cord. Pull the cord up around all of the ribbons, and tie the cord into a tight knot. When this is done the ribbons will bunch together like a pom-pom.

8. Slide a hair tie down one of the elastic cord ends. Tie the elastic cord into another knot around the hair tie. Cut the excess ends of the cord off. Style the hair into a ponytail or pigtails using the korker hair bow to secure the hair.
