Instructions For Folded Ribbon Animal Hair Clips

Instructions for Folded Ribbon Animal Hair Clips

Have you ever spent more money than you thought was necessary on a cute hair clip and thought: "I could've made that!" Actually, making hair clips is really simple and very inexpensive (you may even have all the tools you need right at home). You can learn make your own adorable animal hair clips in no time.

Making Hair Clips

You're going to need a single prong, plain alligator hair clip, ribbon and hot glue. If you don't own these items already, you can purchase them at any craft and hobby store.

For an animal hair clip, buy an animal-print ribbon (leopard, zebra, cheetah, etc). Also, for a young girl, you can purchase tiny animal "beads" to glue onto the hair clip. Run a strip of hot glue on the underneath part of the top clip. Place the ribbon directly on the glue. Now, run a strip of glue over the upper part of the top clip. Fold the ribbon over on the top portion and hold the ribbon down with your fingers so it adheres. Add a drop of glue to the underside of the pinch-clip. Fold the ribbon around and adhere it to the glue.

The ribbon hair clip itself is completed. If you'd like to add a little extra to it, add a drop of glue to the top part of the pinch clip. You will be adding the glue right to the ribbon. Take your corresponding animal bead and glue it to that drop of glue. The animal clip is finished and can be worn as soon as the hair clip dries.

Other Animal Hair Ideas

Take an animal-print ribbon and slide a regular hair tie around it. Make sure the hair tie is in the exact middle of the ribbon. Tie the ribbon into a knot. Then, pull your hair up into a ponytail and place the hair tie around it as usual. Twist the hair tie so that the knot from the ribbon is facing up. Wrap the ribbon down the sides of the hair, underneath the ponytail, crisscross and pull back up the sides of the ponytail. Tie the ribbon into a large bow.
