To make a full bow like you would receive from the florist, just add more loops.
Those beautiful ribbon bows that come from the floral shops are simple and easy to replicate with a little time and practice. Do not worry about getting it exactly right the first time because you can easily untie it and try again until you get it just the way you want it. By varying the type of ribbon, colors and ribbon width, you can have an endless array of ribbon bows perfect for any occasion.
Instructions
1. Determine how long you want the tail of your bow to be. Pinch the ribbon between your first finger and thumb at that distance from the end of the ribbon.
2. Determine how big you want you bow to be by looping the ribbon back to your fingers and add to the ribbon already pinched between your fingers. The bigger the loop, the bigger the bow will be when you are finished.
3. Continuing making loops out of the ribbon and adding to the pinched ribbon between your fingers. You can make as few loops as you like, or make a lot of loops for a big, full bow.
4. When you have made as many loops as you want your bow to have, thread a piece of wire between the ribbon loops where your fingers are pinching the loops together. Pull both ends of the wire to the back, and twist them tightly together.
5. When the wire is secure, stop pinching the ribbon loops together. Leaving enough ribbon on the end for a tail piece, cut the ribbon. Gently tug the loops in various directions, spreading them apart for a beautiful full bow. If you are not happy with the way it turned out, undo the wire and try again.
