Creative Projects For Illustrator Cs3

If you've used the Photoshop graphics software from Adobe, you're familiar with the program's options for editing digital photographs. Having Photoshop CS3, part of the Adobe Creative Suite, installed on your computer doesn't limit you to just electronic touch-ups, though. Let your creativity run free and make use of many different options within Photoshop to create complete picture transformations.

At-Home Makeover

Your chances of getting on a television makeover show are slim and having actual cosmetic procedures done can be expensive and risky. Instead, get creative with Photoshop's tools and give yourself an onscreen home makeover. With Photoshop, you can do everything from change your eye color (no contact lenses required) to reduce or erase wrinkles (no anesthesia or face-lift scar results). Other options include tweaking a model photo to show how you would look with longer hair, adding or removing freckles, closing a gap between your teeth and touching up gray in your hair. Use Photoshop's tools to create new looks just to see the difference in your appearance, design a professional photo for your website or as a test before committing to an actual invasive procedure.

Make Your Own Marilyn

The actress Marilyn Monroe featured in some of artist Andy Warhol's most recognizable works, including a 1953 black and white picture of her he used for a silk screen display in 1962. The picture takes the original image of Marilyn and transforms her with vivid, multi-colors and different exposures. You're able to do the same in Photoshop CS3, taking advantage of the program's tools and filters. Give your photos the over-exposed look with Photoshop's "Hue/Saturation" slider bars, which also provides the option to transform your images into the neon bright look of the Marilyn artwork. Photoshop's selection tools make it quick to copy your picture and paste it multiple times, just like the repetition of the Marilyn photos. Use the "Lasso" tool, another selection option, to outline a specific area on the photo and add color, like Warhol did with Marilyn's hair.

Get Animated

If you ever wished you could look more like your favorite cartoon character, open a photo of yourself in Photoshop and get creative. With a couple of clicks of Photoshop's "Ellipse Tool" and black paint color, you can give yourself Mickey Mouse ears (or, with the addition of a red polka-dot bow, Minnie Mouse ears). Fans of Lela, from "Futurama," can get their cartoon character's single-eye appearance by manipulating their picture on screen. Photoshop's "Lasso" and warping tools can create one single large eye from two normal-sized ones. Anime enthusiasts know that their favorite characters often have not-found-in-nature hair colors such as neon pink or bright blue. With Photoshop's color palettes and brushes, you can achieve the same look on screen.
