With her trademark red-and-white polka dotted dress, Minnie Mouse is an instantly recognizable cartoon character whose popularity has spanned decades. Children and adults alike can enjoy dressing up as this Disney icon for trick-or-treating on Halloween or for other occasions requiring a costume. Although many stores sell Minnie Mouse costumes, you can also make the costume yourself at home and add your own personal touches to Minnie Mouse's classic look.
Instructions
1. Choose a red dress with white polka dots from a local or online retail store. If a red dress with white polka dots cannot be found, use a red skirt with white polka dots and a short-sleeved black blouse or fitted T-shirt.
2. Tie a wide white ribbon around the waist of the costume with the bow facing the front.
3. Purchase a pair of mouse ears from a local or online retail store. Stores that specialize in costumes or parties usually have mouse ears available all year round. Tie a red ribbon with white polka dots at the top of the headband and between the ears. A plain red ribbon is also sufficient.
4. Use a pair of black tights to mimic the appearance of Minnie Mouse's legs. Slip on a pair of white anklet socks over the tights. Add a pair of yellow or black dress shoes to complete the lower half of the Minnie Mouse costume.
5. Mimic the appearance of Minnie Mouse's hands with a pair of white gloves.
6. Draw three lines on each cheek with black eyeliner to create the appearance of Minnie Mouse's whiskers. Make an outline of a small circle on the tip of your daughter's nose with black eyeliner, and color it in. Color in her lips with bright red lipstick to add the finishing touch to the Minnie Mouse costume.
