Long, voluminous hair is more than a fashion statement; it can be a sign of health. While some people have naturally thick full hair, others need to put a little effort into boosting their locks. Follow these steps for making your long hair look fuller.
Instructions
1. Get a layered haircut. Long hair that's all the same length can look flat near the head and wide at the bottom, giving the style a triangular, disproportional look.
2. Use a volumizing shampoo and a light, volumizing conditioner if your hair needs it. Your shampoo and conditioner should rinse out completely, without leaving any residue. Any leftover soap will weigh your style down.
3. Towel dry your hair and apply volumizing styling products. Spray root-lifter near the roots, and use a light-weight product like mousse on the ends. Comb the styling products through with a wide-tooth comb to distribute them evenly.
4. Section the hair and pull it in the direction opposite from the way it naturally lies. Direct the hair dryer at the roots of the section, and repeat over your entire head. Then go over the rest of your hair with the round brush, drying the lengths of hair as they're wrapped over the brush.
5. Use a clarifying shampoo once a week to clear away any built-up styling products that can weigh your long hair down.
