Make Korker Hair Bows
Every parent with little girls wants to get their hands on those curly hair bows that look like the top of a beautiful present. When you saw them in stores or children's boutiques, you likely had sticker shock. In all reality, these bows are not complicated to make.
Instructions
Creating the Ribbon
1. Preheat the oven to 275 degrees.
2. Secure one end of the ribbon to the top of the dowel with a clothespin.
3. Wrap the ribbon around rod until you reach the end of the ribbon or rod.
4. Cut the ribbon if needed and secure the end with another clothespin.
5. Wrap a cookie sheet with aluminum foil to place the dowels on. Arrange dowels on the cookie sheet.
6. Place the full cookie sheet in the oven and leave in for 25 minutes.
7. Allow everything to cool before handling.
Making the Bow
8. Cut the ribbon into two and a half inch sections. Depending on what size bow you want and how full you want it to be, you will need 20 to 35 pieces of cut ribbon
9. Cut a 12-inch piece of elastic or string.
10. Lay it out straight on a flat, even surface.
11. Place the pile of ribbons across the string. Make sure the string is in the center of the ribbons.
12. Pull the string up tight and tie it into a knot around the ribbons. Be sure to double knot the string. For a more secure knot, you can also use a bit of hot glue to hold the ribbons tightly together.
13. Turn the bow over and check to make sure all ribbons are lined up evenly. Make any adjustments that are necessary. If you are using hot glue to hold the knot, make sure to line up your ribbons before applying the hot glue.
14. Attach the bow to a barrette, alligator clip, headband, or ponytail holder and you are done.
