The perfect bow is part of what makes a gift unique. It tells the gift receiver that you put thought and effort into the present, that there is a little extra in the gift itself. Florists and gift wrappers make good money making fabric bows for presents. Instead of waiting for someone else to make your bow, make your own to add an extra special touch to your gift. Follow these easy steps to add a stunning bow.
Instructions
1. Select 8 to 9 feet of ribbon, about one inch in thickness. Velvet, satin and silk are the most commonly used fabrics for bows. Any color or pattern will work, though red is the most popular color. Wired ribbon is the easiest to use.
2. Make loops. Trim the end of a long piece of fabric ribbon. Cut it at an angle.
3. Loop the ribbon back and forth several times, while holding on to the center of the loops.
4. Make sure the pattern faces outward when making loops.
5. Continue looping the ribbon until it is the right size bow.
6. Add curling ribbon to the bow at the center of the loops. Remove the rest of the ribbon. Cut the ribbon at an angle.
7. Bend the wire of a decorative pin around the joined area.
8. Fluff bow to make it look full.
9. Connect the bow to the gift. Use a curling ribbon to tie the bow to the gift. Clip the ends of the ribbon.
