Harajuku Girl Outfit Ideas

Harajuku is a style of dress that originated among teenagers and young adults in the Harajuku district of Tokyo.

Harajuku style is a type of Japanese youth fashion that originated in the area around the Harajuku train station in Tokyo. Teenagers and young adults have adopted this style, which shows individuality and creativity. There are several different types of Harajuku style that you can choose from if you are looking for Harajuku girl outfit ideas. All of the styles place emphasis on cute or childlike dress with some variation among styles.

Gothic Lolita

Gothic Lolita, or Goth Loli, dress is a form of Harajuku style that combines gothic Victorian clothing with the popular Japanese "lolita" fashion style. Lolita followers dress in a way that depicts themselves as overtly cute. To dress in the Goth Loli fashion, black and white clothing and accessories are a must. Knee-length black skirts and ruffly shirts with lace and ribbons are typical. A lacy French maid costume works as a base for this look. Stockings, tights, fishnet stockings and over-the-knee socks are among the options for dressing the legs. Many goth lolis wear heeled shoes and boots; shoes with buckles and straps are best to evoke the Victorian look. To accessorize, add a lacy hat or small top hat, black parasol, lace gloves or small handbag. Keep your makeup simple: black eyeliner, pale foundation and red or black lipstick is all that is needed to pull off this Harajuku outfit.

Decora and Kawaii

Decora and Kawaii translate to "decoration" and "cute," respectively, which means girls who dress in this Harajuku style endeavor to wear cute, childlike clothing with lots of decorative accessories. Hello Kitty is one of the most iconic brands in this fashion style. To dress in this way, find children's clothes in larger sizes. Cartoon characters, bright clothing, pastels, ruffles and hairbows contribute to this look. You might carry a bag that depicts a cartoon or anime character or large stuffed animals. Pigtails and pink hair help to achieve this overly cute look. Decora dress takes Kawaii a step further by incorporating lots of hair clips and bows for hairstyles and accessorizing with plastic toys and jewelry.

Ganguro

Ganguro style seeks to imitate the look of the typical blond American teenager. Mini skirts, brightly colored shirts and high heels or platform shoes are a start to this ensemble. To truly pull off the ganguro look, however, you will need to dye your hair blond or orange or wear a wig in one of these shades. Next, you will need an exaggerated dark spray tan. Bronzer may help to achieve this look without the cost of sunless tanning. Makeup should be exaggerated. Many ganguro girls wear white or black eyeliner, but they sometimes wear a combination of both. You will need fake eyelashes and white lipstick. Flower hairpins and lots of brightly colored rings, bracelets and necklaces should be used to accessorize and complete the look.
