Make a paper mask of Mickey and Minnie Mouse with a child so they can play make believe and switch back and forth between playing both characters. By adding the same basic character markings on both sides of the mask and a few specific markings on one side, you can make a reversible mask. The materials you need are inexpensive at the craft store or are already in your kitchen.
Instructions
1. Put a large white paper plate over your face and have someone help you mark where your eyes are on the front of the plate with a pencil. Draw two ovals where the marks are and make sure the long sides of the oval are vertical. Cut them out with a utility knife. These are the eye holes and also the shape of Mickey and Minnie's eyes.
2. Stack the paper plate on top of another large white paper plate and trace the eyes holes of the first onto the bottom one with a pencil. Cut the second eye holes out. Turn the plate on top so that the two eating sides face each other. Line the edges of the two plates up and tape them together with masking tape.
3. Paint two small paper plates on both sides with black acrylic paint. Paint the top of the plate on both sides with black acrylic paint in the shape of the three points on Mickey and Minnie's heads. Look at a picture of Mickey or Minnie to see how the black parts of their heads are supposed to look. One point extends from the middle of the top edge of his head and the other two curve down to outline their cheeks.
4. Paint a black oval between and underneath the two eye holes with the long side of the oval going horizontally. Make this oval on the other side of the plates. This will be Mickey and Minnie's noses. Paint their mouths below the noses and use the picture of them to get the shape right.
5. Add three curved lines on the top edges of the eye holes on the Minnie side of the mask. Glue a small pink hair bow near the top edge on the Minnie side.
6. Pierce a hole through either side of the mask and tie the ends of an elastic string to the edges of the plate. Your reversible Mickey and Minnie Mouse mask is ready to be worn.
