Tying your own ribbons for baby hair bows allows you to choose a variety of colors and textiles to create unique accessories. These pieces also make nice baby shower gifts. Before getting started, it's helpful to have a few tips. You'll need to select the right ribbon and determine if you'll assemble the pieces using a baby size bobby pin or barrette.
Instructions
1. Choose a ribbon for your bows. The first step in making baby hair bows is selecting a few different -olored ribbons. These can be found at your local craft store in a variety of colors and patterns. Make sure to choose a thin ribbon so it will look proportionate to your baby.
2. Cut your ribbon to about 23 inches in length. Then carefully tie the bow in the same manner you would tie your shoe. Carefully pull the end of each bow so each loop is no larger then a dime.
3. Trim the ends of your bow. Once you're done tying the bow, carefully trim the ends on each bow so each side is no more than 1/2 inch long.
4. Attach the bow to a bobby pin. Use the smallest size bobby pin you can find (baby size) and put the bobby pin through the center of the bow tie. Then, take a small piece of your baby's hair, and bobby pin the bow.
5. Consider attaching the bow to a barrette. You can also use a glue gun to assemble the bow onto a baby-size barrette. These can be found at a craft store or baby retailer.
