Use a lot of tule for a dramatic look.
Bridal hairpieces can be expensive. Prices start at about $30 and go up into the hundreds. Creating your own hairpiece for your wedding, or for a friend is meaningful without costing a fortune.Headbands are an inexpensive way to create bridal hairpieces and are not time consuming. You can make a headband bridal hairpiece for very little money, and make it look expensive.
Instructions
1. A headband will work when making a veil.
Measure the length of tulle desired and the width according to the headband. Most veils are shoulder, fingertip or full length. Use a headband that matches the jewelry the bride will wear in the wedding. Ensure the headband is the correct size for the bride's head and that she will like the piece.
2. Fishing wire is clear and can barely be seen.
Thread fishing wire into the needle and begin to hand sew the tulle into the headband. Start on one side and continue until the entire headband is complete. You may bunch the material, if you desire. Place the headband on the bride and re-measure the appropriate length for the tulle.
3. Fabric scissors will work best.
Trim the tulle to the specific length. Add layers of tulle to the headband if you desire and trim. Use professional scissors to make these cuts to reduce unwanted rips in the fabric.
4. Embellishments can be added to fall in front of the headband.
Add embellishments to the headband using fabric glue with a hot glue gun. Be careful not to melt the tulle when using the hot glue gun. Embellishments may include rhinestones, feathers or flowers. Add large embellishments to the right or left side of the headband for a modern look.
5. Diamonds are a common decoration on the veil.
Add embellishments to the veil if the bride prefers. Popular veil decorations include diamonds, sequins and pearls. Sew the embellishments on using fishing wire and needle or fabric glue. Measure the space in between each piece to ensure the hairpiece looks symmetrical.
