Attach a stacked hair bow to a head band or a clip.
With so many ribbon options available, it can be hard to choose just one ribbon to make a hair bow. When you can't choose between two or three favorites, use all of them to make a stacked hair bow. A stacked hair bow layers two or more bows to make one big, full bow. Stacked hair bows are a good way to combine different colors of ribbon to coordinate with a favorite outfit. An example of coordinating colors is a stacked hair bow in pink, white and brown.
Instructions
1. Pass the cut ends of each of the ribbon pieces through the flame of the cigarette lighter to heat seal the ends. Place each piece of ribbon on a flat work surface to cool down.
2. Pick up one of the 11-inch light-pink pieces of ribbon. Place a line of hot glue along the one of the short edges of the ribbon. Bring the other short end of the ribbon over, and press it into the hot glue to make a loop. Repeat for the other 11-inch piece of light-pink ribbon, the 2 9-inch pieces of brown ribbon and the 7-inch piece of white ribbon. Set the five ribbon loops aside.
3. Pick up one of the light-pink loops, and lay it straight across on a flat work surface. Pick up the other light-pink loop, and lay it directly beneath the first light-pink loop so that the bottom long edge of the first light-pink loop touches the top long edge of the second light-pink loop.
4. Pick up one of the 12-inch pieces of floral wire, and lay it vertically across the center of the two light-pink loops. Wrap the floral wire tightly around the back of the two light-pink loops, and twist the ends to lock the wire in place. Set the light-pink bow aside.
5. Create a bow out of the two brown loops in exactly the same way that you created the light-pink bow. Set the brown bow aside.
6. Pick up the white loop and the final piece of floral wire. Wrap the floral wire tightly around the center of the white loop, and twist the ends to lock the wire in place. Set the white bow aside.
7. Place the light-pink bow flat on a work surface.
8. Pick up the brown bow and pull the two ends of its floral wire in opposite directions so that the wires point out of the top and bottom center of the bow, and are perpendicular to the long sides of the bow.
9. Place the brown bow directly on top of the light-pink bow, and wrap the floral wire of the brown bow tightly around the center of the light-pink bow. Twist the ends of the floral wire tightly together at the back center of the light-pink bow. Place the joined brown and light-pink bow aside.
10. Pick up the white bow and pull the two ends of its floral wire in opposite directions so that the wires point out of the top and bottom center of the bow, and are perpendicular to the long sides of the bow.
11. Place the white bow directly on top of the brown side of the joined brown and light-pink bow. Wrap the floral wire of the white bow tightly around the center of the joined brown and light-pink bow, and twist the ends of the floral wire tightly at the back center of the bow.
12. Trim the excess wire ends with the wire cutters, leaving a 1/4-inch stem of wire extending from the twisted wire knot. Press the 1/4-inch edges of the wire flat against the bow.
13. Pick up the 3-inch piece of dark-pink ribbon and wrap it around the front center of the bow. Squeeze a dot of hot glue on the back of the bow. Overlap the ends of the piece of dark-pink ribbon and press the ends into the dot of hot glue on the back of the bow.
14. Place a line of hot glue along the back of the barrette. Press the back of the bow into the glue on the barrette. Hold the bow in place for 20 seconds while the hot glue sets.
