Tie curling ribbon bows to adorn the tops of your gifts.
When you need a bow for the top of your gift that stands out from the crowd with its size and color, curling ribbon is the ideal bow-making material. Even a beginner can quickly learn tie curling ribbon bows for adorning gifts. When bigger is better, make a beautiful bow with curling ribbon and your gift will pop with color and style.
Instructions
1. Wrap the tape measure around the width and length of the gift in one continuous wrap. Add 15 to 20 inches to this measurement (shorter for a smaller bow and longer for a larger bow).
2. Cut seven to 10 lengths of curling ribbon the length from Step 1.
3. Hold the lengths of curling ribbon together as if they are one strand of ribbon and center them over the top of the gift.
4. Wrap the lengths of ribbon around the width of the gift to the backside and meet them in the center of the gift at the back. Twist the ribbons around each other once and then separate them again to bring them around to the front of the gift again, except wrap them around the length of the gift this time.
5. Meet the lengths of ribbon again at the top center of the gift and tie them all together tightly in a double knot. You should have many strands of excess curling ribbon extending out from the double knot at the top center of the gift.
6. Open your scissors completely so the blades are flat.
7. Grasp one curling ribbon strand just above the double knot. Position the open blade of the scissors flat against the curling ribbon and pull the flat blade of the scissors quickly along the entire excess length of the curling ribbon. When you do this briskly, you will create corkscrew curls in the ribbon. If you do not like the first curl you make, simply repeat the process until you get a corkscrew curl you like.
8. Repeat step 7 with every strand of curling ribbon extending out from the double knot. When you finish, you will have a large, loopy, curly bow sitting atop the gift right in the center.
