Wear shoes that are comfortable for extended periods of time.
You do not need a ton of shoes to create a fabulous shoe wardrobe for your work suits. Purchasing classic shoes that can mix and match with various suits and fabrics will make dressing easier in the mornings. In addition, keeping minimal work shoes that will complement any pantsuit or skirt suit will leave you with extra room for shopping for chic, after-work, shoes.
The Pump
The basic black pump is an office staple and classy addition to any work wardrobe. Invest in a good pair of shiny black pumps with a 1 1/2 to 2 inch heel, anything taller may leave you cringing by the end of the workday. Pumps are stylish, and compliment any type of pantsuit, such as straight-leg, wide-leg and trouser-leg. The color, black, will match almost any suit, with the exception of brown. Keep up the appearance of the black pump by shining the shoe regularly, maintaining the rubber sole and keeping the shoe in the shoe bag or box when not in use.
The Sling-Back
Wake up your spring suit wardrobe with the sling-back heel. Like the pump, the sling back is classy and elegant; however, it does have more of a warmer weather feel to it; therefore, bring it out during the spring and summer months. During the warmer months your suit colors may lighten so choose one pair of sling-backs in classic black and another pair in nude. The nude will not only elongate your leg in a skirt, but can mix and match with a variety of suit colors.
The Peep Toe
These classy beauties will show off a perfectly polished toe while still maintaining a professional look. The peep toe heel is similar to the pump with the exception of the missing toe section. Peep toe heels are flirty and stylish so play with the different accents, such as bows and intricate lacing, and colors when matching the shoes to the suit. A basic black suit can go from winter to summer with pink peep toe heels, or a leopard print shoe. Before wearing the peep toe shoe to the office, check with your company's policy on open toe shoes.
Boots
Walk right into fall and winter with an attractive pair of black boots. Office-appropriate boots range from ankle-length for skirts and any height for under pant legs. The boot is appropriate for colder, chilly weather because it will help protect your feet from the elements, and avoid getting ice and snow under your foot when wearing a pump. Purchase a pair of boots that have heel less than 3 inches and are comfortable to walk in throughout the day. Maintain the boots' exterior with regular wipe-downs, especially in the winter, and keep them in a box or bag when not in use.
