The corkscrew twist hairstyle is perfectly suited for black, African hair as the natural kink in the hair keeps the style intact very nicely. If want to display corkscrew twists in this kind of hair, you can easily do it at home without having to trek to a hair salon and pay good money for someone else to do it. Once you get the hang of it, you can do it every day if you want.
Instructions
1. Wash your hair with a deep-conditioning treatment and apply a leave-in conditioner. Put hair oil into your hair to prepare it for twisting.
2. Separate your hair into 2-inch sections, starting at the back of your head. You can use clips to keep the hair in groups.
3. Grasp one of the sections of hair and split into two small sections. Twist the strands separately to the right until they are completely wound up.
4. Pass each of the strands over one another to the left with letting go of the twisted ends until both strands are twisted together. If the twist doesn't stay put, wrap a mini hair rod onto the end.
5. Divide each 2-inch section into two smaller sections and twist them together in the same way. Keep twisting until all your hair is twisted tightly.
6. Sit under a hood dryer for a half-hour and let the twists take hold. If you don't have a hood dryer, put your hair under a shower cap and use your blow-dryer to heat the hair. Set the blow-dryer in the lowest heat setting and move it around your head, making sure that the whole head is heated. Then remove the shower cap if you used one and carefully remove each mini rod and let the twists unravel on their own.
