Create A Duct Tape Tie

Whether constructing a costume, creating your own look or rebelling against an office dress code, making and wearing a duct tape tie is sure to get you noticed. This tie not only makes a bizzare fashion statement, it's durable and easy to keep clean.

Instructions

1. Trace a tie onto a piece of newspaper, tracing or pattern paper. Cut out the tie template and set it aside.

2. Cut two strips of duct tape the length of the tie, with enough to overlap the edges. Place them, sticky side up, on a smooth surface. Place the template onto the sticky side of the tape to create the underside of the tie. Make sure that the template is centered along the overlapping pieces of tape.

3. Trim the excess tape around the pattern and place the trimmed piece of duct tape side down on your surface. Cut a piece of duct tape wide enough to cover the tie tip and place it over the end of the tie. Line up the bottom edge with the tip of the pattern. Continue cutting strips, overlapping them slightly and working up the tie to the opposite end.

4. Flip the tie over and cut around the pattern once again to finish your duct tape tie.
