Make spikey hairbows using craft supplies.
When you have a child who enjoys wearing hair bows and hair ties, you can both have fun by making artistic hair accessories. Although you can buy hair bows at any child's clothing store, you can make your own creative hair bows. For example, make spikey hair bows with materials that can be purchased at any arts and crafts supply store, such as ribbons and hot glue.
Instructions
1. Cut 10 pieces of colorful ribbon with scissors to measure 6 inches long each. Cut the ends at an angle.
2. Fold each ribbon in half, and shift the folded ribbon so that the fold is offset. Stitch along the fold on each ribbon with a needle and thread to hold the folded ribbons in place.
3. Cut a circle from felt fabric with scissors to measure 2 inches in diameter.
4. Insert a hot glue stick into a hot glue gun. Plug the hot glue gun into an electrical outlet for five minutes to heat up.
5. Squeeze a layer of hot glue onto the felt circle, and press the stitched folds of the ribbons onto the hot glue. Once all of the ribbons have been attached, turn the felt circle upside down for two minutes to cool. This will enable the ribbons to stand upright in a spikey display more readily.
6. Squeeze a line of hot glue along the top of a barrette, and press the felt circle on top of the barrette. Hold the felt circle in place for two minutes to allow the hot glue to cool and harden.
