A matching hair bow completes your child's outfit.
Little girls sometimes wear bows in their hair to accessorize their outfits. If your little girl enjoys wearing these bows on a daily basis, it can be expensive purchasing a bow that matches every outfit your child owns. Purchasing the materials necessary to make your own bows that can match your child's wardrobe is much less expensive. Each bow requires just one piece of ribbon and a hair clip to create a professional-looking bow in your own home.
Instructions
1. Cut a 60-inch length of ribbon to use for your bow. Cut each end into a forked end to prevent fraying. You can cut the length a little shorter or longer depending on how large or small of a bow you want to make.
2. Hold your hand flat in front of you with your palm facing you and your fingers toward the opposite side of your body. Place one end of the ribbon below your hand on the palm side, close to your thumb. Wrap the ribbon over and behind your hand and back to the palm side. Overlap the ribbon on the palm side. Repeat to create one more loop, overlapping the two slightly. The other end of the ribbon should end up on the palm side facing up.
3. Slide the ribbon loops off your hand onto your work surface, keeping the loops in the same position.
4. Pinch the middle together and wrap jewelry wire around it to bunch the ribbon in the middle of the bow. Twist the ends of the jewelry wire together to secure the bow.
5. Cut a 2-inch piece of the same ribbon.
6. Place a dab of hot glue onto the middle of the bow at the front. Press the middle of the 2-inch piece of ribbon onto the glue and wrap it around to the back, securing the back with a dab of hot glue.
7. Squeeze a line of hot glue across the center of the back of the bow vertically. Press the hair clip into place firmly to attach it to the bow.
