4th Of This summer Art Projects

Create exciting Fourth of July crafts for the entire family.

The Fourth of July celebrates the United States of America's independence from England each year. Adults and children can construct several crafts, which have a patriotic flair for the holiday. From a confetti firecracker to a patriotic T-shirt, use your imagination to create red, white and blue projects your friends will envy. A quick trip to your local craft and retail store is all you need to show off your artistic abilities.

Confetti Firecracker

Create a confetti firecracker for your Fourth of July party that the children and even adults will love. You need a small cardboard tube, red and blue electrical tape, white acrylic paint, tissue paper (red, white and blue), glue or tape, confetti and white star stickers. Paint the cardboard tube with two or three coats of white paint. After it dries, wrap one end of the roll with two or three pieces of blue electrical tape. Use the red electrical tape to make stripes down the tubes. Leave the white paint showing in between the red tape, so it looks like stripes on a flag. Place the white star stickers on the blue tape. The tube should resemble a flag. Glue or tape a piece of tissue paper to one end of the tube and fill the tube with confetti. Glue or tape the other end of the tube with another sheet of tissue paper. When you are ready to use the confetti firecracker, poke a hole in the tissue paper with your finger and shake it to release the confetti. If you do not have confetti, you can cut the red, white and blue tissue paper into several small squares to fill the tube.

Wig or Tutu

Make a Fourth of July wig that can double as a tutu. Stretch an elastic band around a notebook and tie several pieces of red, white and blue tulle to the band. Cut the tool in 16-inch long pieces. Completely cover the band and make sure to tie each piece of tulle in a knot around the band. Use scissors to trim the tulle to make it even once you are through adding tulle. Wear this as a patriotic wig or tutu at your Fourth of July celebration.

Patriotic T-Shirt

Show off your creative side by making your own Fourth of July shirt. Visit your local craft store and purchase a red, white or blue T-shirt, puff paints, fabric markers and glitter pens. Print a design on the computer and trace it onto your shirt using pencil before you color it or freehand the shirt. For more decorations, add beads and jewels to your shirt. Be sure to wash your shirt inside out to keep all the decorations from coming off in the washing machine.
