Perfect hair bows don't always need to take over an hour and an entire hot glue stick to make.
Hair bows can perfectly complete a look. Since boutique-style hair bows can cost quite a bit, you may consider making your own at home. But making a simple hair bow doesn't have to require a lot of work and time. Instead, you can learn to make perfect hair bows that not only take only a few minutes, but are interchangeable with different hair accessories like headbands, barrettes and hair ties.
Instructions
1. Lay your ribbon onto a flat surface, pattern-side down.
2. Place a pencil--or any thin, cylindrical object--on top of your ribbon. Tie the ribbon around the pencil into an overhand knot. Tying your ribbon around a cylindrical object will create a small loop in the back of the bow which will allow you to make your hair bows fast and detachable.
3. Tie your ribbon into a simple bow. Cut the ends of your bow using a pair of sharp scissors or pinking shears.
4. Slide the bow off of the pencil.
5. Slide the loop made in the back of the bow over a thin headband. Adjust the bow so it's slightly off center on top of the headband. Or you can insert a bobby pin through the loop to wear the bow like a barrette in your hair. If you want to wear your hair in a ponytail, insert a hair tie through the bow loop and tie your hair back as normal. Adjust the bow if needed so it sits on top of your ponytail.
