Curl any cloth ribbon by heating the ribbon in your oven.
Curly ribbons, also known as korker ribbons, are cloth ribbons that hold a spiral shape. Although you can purchase these ribbons from any arts and crafts store, you can save money by learning make them yourself. With just some cloth ribbon, like grosgrain, and some wooden dowels, you can create your own curled korker ribbons in a day. Use your curled ribbons for gift wrapping or decorations, or attach them to a barrette to be worn in your hair.
Instructions
1. Wrap your cloth ribbon around a 1/4-inch wooden dowel. Secure the top of the ribbon to the dowel with a clothespin.
2. Snip off the excess ribbon that hangs past the dowel with scissors. Secure the bottom of the ribbon to the dowel with another clothespin.
3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 to make as many curly ribbons as you'd like.
4. Heat your oven to 275 degrees Fahrenheit. To keep the spiral shape of the ribbons, you'll have to "bake" them.
5. Line the ribbons wrapped around the dowels onto a cookie sheet. Set the cookie sheet into the oven, and "bake" the ribbons for 25 minutes.
6. Allow the ribbons to cool for 30 minutes once they're done. Remove all of the clothespins from the dowels. Slide the dowels from the middle of the ribbons ensure each ribbon keeps its curled shaped.
