Adhere a bow to an elastic band with hot glue.
While you can easily purchase elastic bands that feature bows, creating your own allows you to create a personalized look for a hairdo. A package of plain elastic bands, ribbon and some other basic supplies are all you need to create your own, one-of-a-kind hair accessories. Make hair ribbons to match and outfit or make a collection of these accessories to give as a gift or a party favor.
Instructions
1. Cut one 10-inch, one 8-inch and one 6-inch length of decorative ribbon.
2. Determine the center point of each piece of ribbon. Fold both ends of each piece of ribbon so that they meet at the center point; the edges should touch. Place a drop of hot glue under each end of the ribbon and press them down onto the same side of the center point of the ribbon. Each of the ribbons should now have two loops that meet at the middle, forming one large, one medium and one small bow.
3. Place a drop of hot glue on the back of the medium-sized bow. Press the medium-sized bow on to the center of the large bow so that the medium-sized bow is attached on the center of the large bow. Attach the small bow to the center of the medium-sized bow in the same manner.
4. Cut a length of ribbon that is double the width of the center of the collection of bows. For example, if the width of the center is 2 inches, cut a 4-inch length of ribbon.
5. Wrap the ribbon around the center of the collection of bows. Hot glue the ends of the ribbon to the back of the bow collection.
6. Apply a drop of hot glue to the back of the decorative bow. Press the glued portion of the bow onto an elastic hairband. Hold the bow in place for approximately one minute to ensure a bond of the glue between the bow and the elastic band.
