A high ponytail is a classic and practical cheerleading hairstyle.
Cheerleaders are athletes who perform energetic dance routines at sports games and events. It is common for members of a cheerleading squad to all have the same, or similar, hairstyles. Not only do cheerleader hairstyles improve the style and visual appearance of the team, they also serve a practical purpose by keeping all of the hair off of the face. Cheerleader hairstyles can be further customized with bows, flowers and ribbons to create a unique hairstyle that complements the cheerleader's personality and style.
Instructions
1. Brush through the entire head of hair with the paddle brush to remove any knots or tangles.
2. Apply a small amount of styling cream from the roots down to the ends of the hair. This will help to smooth the hair and make it easier to get it into a high ponytail.
3. Scrape back the entire head of hair into a high ponytail that is at least 3 inches above the nape of the neck. Hold the hair back with the left hand and brush the hair back with the right hand to ensure a neat, tidy and tight ponytail.
4. Secure the high ponytail in place by wrapping a hair elastic around the base of the ponytail.
5. Separate a 1-inch-thick section of hair from the ponytail. Wrap the piece of hair around the base of the ponytail so that it disguises the hair elastic. Continue to wrap the piece of hair until there is a 1-inch loose end left. Secure this piece of hair with a hair grip underneath the ponytail.
6. Shield the eyes and spray the hairstyle in place with the hairspray.
