Eliminate Under Eye Circles Beneath Your Eyes Overnight

Dark circles under the eyes can be a nuisance that affects many women at some point in their lives. They can be the result of stress, lack of sleep, illness, allergies or even plain old genetics. While it can be hard to get rid of dark circles overnight, here are some things you can do to get rid of them or at least lessen them in a pinch.

Instructions

Remove Dark Circles

1. Eliminate the cause. If your dark circles are caused by allergens, then nothing you do will get rid of them overnight if you don't remove the cause. You should change your sheets, dust your bedroom, vacuum up the cat hair and remove dried or fresh flowers, potpourri and other potential irritants before you go to sleep at night.

2. Apply a compress. A number of compresses that are readily available could work for you . Cold slices of cucumber or potato will reduce swelling and inflammation. Slice the vegetable into rounds and apply to your closed eyelids. Rest on your back with the vegetables in place for 5-10 minutes. Repeat again just before bed.

3. Make some tea. Tea serves two purposes. First, drinking tea can provide anti-oxidants that will help prevent additional dark circles. Secondly, the tea bags should be chilled and then placed on your closed eye lids. The coolness will have the same effect as the cucumber or potato, but will also add tannin which can help reduce puffiness even more effectively.

4. Use an under-eye cream. Many popular skin care brands make creams for dark circles. If you can, purchase one and apply it before you go to bed at night and again in the morning. If you don't have a lightening under-eye cream, use a skin cream made for the face that contains vitamin K.

5. Get a good night's sleep. Lack of sleep will just make the problem worse. Be sure to go to bed early and take something like Tylenol PM if you have trouble falling asleep. Try to get at least 8 to10 hours of restful sleep.

6. Apply concealer. Sometimes all that is left to do is to apply a flesh-colored concealer, a shade or two lighter than your skin tone, to the under-eye area. This will take away any residual darkness and help camouflage leftover puffiness.
