Suggestions For Birthday Balloons Cards

There are many different styles of balloon cards out there or make your own.

Whether you are looking for a professional card or home made balloon card, you can find some creative ideas that suits the birthday receiver. Make a balloon card that won't break your budget but make a big impact on the birthday boy opening it. Make a card with your child for a family member that is easy enough for you child to make herself. Find a professional looking balloon card for someone who is more conservative or you may not know her taste.

Balloon eCards

Go on the Internet to eCard sites to find a balloon card. Some birthday cards have balloons you can "pop" with your mouse or move and go up into the air. Some eCards have videos of balloons while they play music. This is a good choice for loved ones who live far away and have access to the Internet.

Pop-Up Balloon Card

For this you will need a piece of cardstock 2 inches longer than how big you want your card to be after it is folded. Score or crease the card down the middle. Open the card back up and hold it horizontally. Measure from the middle fold on the right a half-inch and score the card. Do the same from the middle to the left.

Go back to the first score line on the right after the middle score and fold it backwards, second score line fold it back to the center. Go the first score line on the left from the middle line and fold backwards, the next score line left, fold back to the center.

Open the card with fold side along the bottom and you have two in-folds. Turn it over and put double side tape along each in-fold and tape together each fold and turn back over, this will be the inside of the card. You will have to long flaps sticking up inside the card. Put double-sided tape lengthwise along the inside of each flap because that is where you will be putting the balloons which will pop up when you open the card. The card will be sideways with the fold on top and you are opening it from the bottom. Cut out balloon shapes in all different sizes and colors from construction paper. Get some clear acetate from a craft store and cut half a centimer wide and varying lengths and glue to your balloons. Insert the balloons into the folds so when you open the card you see balloons pop up. Embellish your card accordingly and write some sentiments inside and Happy Birthday on the outside.

Mixed Media Balloon Card

Create a three-dimensional foam shape balloon card using mixed media of foam, cardstock, paper, ribbon, beads and whatever else you would like to add to embellish your balloon card. Take a piece 12-by-8-inch cardstock and fold in half. Cut balloon shapes out of different color foam or buy pre-cut and glue either inside or front of the card and use curling ribbon as balloon strings. Cut out the letters for "Happy Birthday" and glue onto card. You can use other construction paper for this or even some beads to make your card look "mixed." Let your child do his thing when he is making this card so that he can put his personal touch onto the card. Put out a bowl with beads, ribbon, buttons, pieces of scrap fabric and he can choose what to add to this special balloon card.
