Disney Halloween Outfits For Teens

Disney Halloween Costumes for Teens

Disney has given us wonderful stories full of memorable princesses, villains and fairies. You can buy a Disney costume on line or in a costume shop, but a realistic one will be expensive. Making one not only saves money but adds a little of your own style.

Princesses

Most classic Disney princesses have a slightly different version of the same dress; a long full skirt with a short sleeve and a low-cut bodice. Thrift stores are likely to have old wedding dresses or prom dresses; change the collar and sleeves to the princess of your choice. Vary the detail and color and you can be almost any princess you want. For example, Belle wore a yellow off-the-shoulder dress. Cinderella wore a dress that is blue with puffed sleeves, Sleeping Beauty wore a dress that is pink or blue with long sleeves and a high white collar. For Ariel, the Little Mermaid, attach a couple of seashells to a bikini top. Make a long tight skirt from stretchy fabric. Make it long enough to cut fins at the bottom. If you need a crown, buy an inexpensive one from a costume shop; replace the cheap plastic jewels with glass jewels from a craft store.

Fantasy

To be Minnie Mouse, wear a polka-dot dress over a black hoodie and black tights. You'll need yellow shoes, over-sized white gloves and a big bow between your ears. Create a Tinker Bell costume by sewing leaf-shaped sleeves and a leaf-shaped hemline to a simple green dress. Wings can be cut out of cardboard or formed with wire and netting.

Villains

For Snow White's evil stepmother, you'll need a purple robe, red corded belt and a high collared cape. Old drapes make great capes. Top with a one-hole ski mask and a crown. Pin the mask tight around the neck. Cruella De Vil would wear a long, slinky black dress with a fur coat. If you can't find a fur coat, dye a big fuzzy bathrobe. Color half your hair black and half white or get a wig. Wigs and temporary hair color can be found at a costume shop. Carry the longest cigarette holder you can find.
