Make Cute Hair Add-ons

Cute hair accessories are must-have basic wardrobe items. The right hair accessory can bring out your best facial features, set off any outfit and add that perfect touch to your look. Hair accessories can be purchased ready-made in many stores. They can also be easily crafted at home from many ordinary materials. Home made accessories have several advantages, including the ability to be easily personalized to suit your every mood and style. Most of all, they can allow you show the world your personality and creativity.

Instructions

1. Create a personalized hair necklace with fishing line and charms. A hair necklace can add sparkle to any updo or hair worn down your back. Measure the size of your head. Cut out a length of fishing line about a third longer. String charms on the fishing line. At least five is ideal. Charms can be anything you wish such as beads or old metal charms from a charm bracelet. Knot or glue the charms to the fishing line to keep them in place. Secure the ends to your hair with bobby pins.

2. Crown your hair with fresh flowers. When flowers are in bloom they look terrific in your hair. Gather flowers from your garden or a florist. Strip off any thorns and leaves. Place florists wire on the end of the flower and attach to your hair. Several small flowers in the same color will look very nice. One large flower draped behind your ear will create a tropical effect.

3. Jazz up old accessories. Items you already have in your closet can be updated and modified at minimal cost. Unwind the ribbons on an old headband. Wrap thick gold thread around the headband for a holiday look. Tuck in the ends and glue. Let dry for at least a day.

4. Raid your costume jewelry box. If you have rarely used costume jewelry, you can make hair accessories with it. A large pin will look very striking when placed in your hair. Remove the backing on the pin. Glue the pin to a ponytail holder. The holder should strong enough to stand up to the pin. Thick holders work best.

5. Create personalized barrettes to match any outfit. Barrettes are very versatile. You can use several small barrettes to create a balanced look or one large one to draw attention to your best feature. To make your own barrettes you can start with pre-made barrettes. Unwind any ribbons or beads on the barrettes. Glue a large bead on to a barrette back. Weave ribbons in a braided pattern on a piece of small cardboard. Glue the ends to the back and then glue the result to the barrette base.
