Save money by making your own hair bows.
Parents will spend hundreds of dollars on hair bows for their little girls; they buy bows in bright colors to match outfits, only to lose the bows within a matter of days or weeks. Spending money on hair bows just does not make sense when the bows are so easy to make. You can make several in an hour and you can even have older girls help you make them. Making your own hair bows also allows you to choose custom colors to match any of your little girl's outfits.
Instructions
1. Cut a 20-inch length of ribbon with a pair of scissors. Apply a thin line of super glue to each end of the ribbon to prevent it from unraveling.
2. Create a loop in the middle of the ribbon, so that the ends of the ribbon create a wide v-shape. Secure the pieces together with a bobby pin and sew over the top of the bobby pin with a needle and thread that matches the color of the ribbon.
3. Cut 2 to 3 inches of another piece of ribbon of the same or a different color and superglue the ends of this piece to prevent fraying. Fold this second piece the same as you did the previous piece of ribbon, but in a slightly smaller size. Bobby pin and then sew this second ribbon into place to create the flat loops without having to tie the ribbons and create creases.
4. Set the smaller bow on top of the first bow and sew the two pieces together at the middle. Wrap a length of thread around the center of the two bows and then cut a 2-inch piece of ribbon and wrap around the center of the two bows and secure with a couple of stitches along the back side of the bow.
5. Sew the hair bow onto a hair elastic or superglue it onto a clip. If the ends are too long, cut them evenly and apply superglue at the ends to prevent fraying.
