History

The average weight of a Shih Tzu dog is 9 to 16 pounds. They are short and compact dogs, standing between 8 and 11 inches tall.
Temperament
Shih Tzus have a friendly and outgoing temperament. They trust humans and love to play. Despite their size, Shih Tzus are not afraid to defend themselves if they feel threatened.
Exercise Requirements
Small dogs like the Shih Tzu don’t require as much exercise as larger breeds, so short walks or play sessions are enough for a Shih Tzu. Because Shih Tzus are energetic dogs, it is important to make sure that they get exercise every day.
