Make a hair bow to make your veil look customized.
Make your bridal ensemble or the outfits for your bridesmaids or flower girls complete by creating a delicate bow out of sheer ribbon. Use colors that match the theme of your wedding, and attach the bow to a hair clip to make it easy to slip in any updo or hairstyle. With a few simple folding methods, you can create bows that fit any wedding celebration. Use your ribbon bows to complete a veil, finish a bridal outfit or as a gift for the women in your bridal party.
Instructions
1. Decide how large you want your bow to be. For each loop, plan on using about 6 inches of ribbon. To make a 3-inch bow, you will need 18 inches of ribbon. Cut 18 inches each of the 7/8-inch-wide ribbon and the 1 1/2-inch-wide ribbon straight across with a pair of sharp scissors.
2. Cut a 4-inch piece of 26-gauge wire with scissors or wire cutters.
3. Fold one end of the wider ribbon to make a round loop. Position the end of the ribbon on the inside bottom of the loop. Flatten the loop in the center by pinching it with the thumb and forefinger of your left hand.
4. Hold the long end of the ribbon in the right hand, and move the long end slightly to the right of the left bow loop. Bring the long end up and over the top of the first bow loop. Fold the end of the ribbon underneath the first loop. You will now have four loops, two on each side.
5. Pinch the center of the bow loops tightly. Place the cut wire over the center of the bow, and twist the ends of the wire tightly to secure the bow in place. Trim off the excess wire.
6. Repeat the process with the 7/8-inch-wide ribbon to create the second bow. Secure the bow with wire, and trim off the ends.
7. Arrange the first, wider bow on top of a hair clip. Place the smaller bow on top of the first bow. Move the bows around to arrange the loops according to your taste.
8. Cut a 8-inch piece of wire, and secure the bows on the hair clip. Wind the wire around the center of the bows, and twist the ends to secure.
9. Cut a 2-inch piece of 7/8-inch-wide ribbon. Position the piece over the exposed wire on the bow. Flip the bow over carefully, and use a hot glue gun to glue the ribbon into place, tucking the ends underneath the clip's backing. Allow the glue to cool before wearing.
