Create an elegant birthday party for your little girl by using fancy accessories.
When your little girl turns one, mark the occasion by creating a fancy, elegant birthday party for her. Decorations can be simple yet pretty by favoring solid colors or going for metallic-colored balloons and gift wrap. Elegance can be plain or super fancy, so don't worry if you can't find the frilliest dress or the decorations with the most pizzazz. Coordinating colors and focusing on presentation will make her day elegant and special.
Instructions
1. Decorate for your party using solid colors and, if possible, metallic decorative elements. Metallic materials (such as mylar balloons or streamers) make any occasion fancy and it adds an extravagant touch to your festivities. Have the balloons filled with helium at a party store and add gold or silver ribbon to each one. Make a striking centerpiece with a vase of flowers with several of these balloons attached.
2. Add streamers to your doorways. Streamers often come in solid colors so you can choose one or two for an attractive contrasting scheme. Choose similar colors, such as pink and red, or try for a pretty combination, such as purple and yellow.
3. Wrap your daughter's gifts with fancy paper. Shiny gold or silver wrapping paper will look elegant and attractive to your baby and your guests. Choose a contrasting bow color, such as a pink bow on a silver gift, or a blue bow on a gold one. Wrap even the smallest gifts to make a small stash for her to open. Display them on your kitchen counter or even on the floor for cute photo opportunities.
4. Dress your guest of honor. When purchasing a fancy dress, keep in mind that your little girl is still a baby and she may or may not be comfortable with lots of fluff and lace. There are plenty of other fancy choices for an elegant dress. Try to find a solid-colored dress made of velvet, for example. Patent leather shoes paired with tights will complete her look. She may not tolerate hair bows, headbands or jewelry for long periods of time, so save them for short photo sessions.
5. Bake your own elegant birthday cake at home. Elegance is often in the simplest things, so a simple, pink-frosted cake with her name written in your own cursive handwriting can be beautiful. Alternatively, have a cake prepared to your exact specifications at your local bakery or grocery store.
