The right piece of jewelry is puuuuurfect when worn by the right kitty.
Cats are regal without any special adornment. However, when that special occasion arrives, adding a little glitz and glamor is called for. Even if it's just an ordinary day of lounging around the house playing with a ball of yarn, your cat can look like royalty with a bit of hand crafted jewelry made just for her. The important thing to remember when making cat jewelry is your pet's safety. All of the materials you use to make your cat's jewelry should be non-toxic and the have the ability to be attached securely to prevent strangling or choking.
Instructions
Collars/Necklaces
1. Cut a length of ribbon approximately 12 to 18 inches long. Slide a bell or charm to the middle of the ribbon and anchor it in place with a knot. Tie the ribbon around your cat's neck, leaving enough space for the animal to breathe easily, but tight enough so that the ribbon cannot be caught on anything the cat may rub against. Finish with an optional oversized bow.
2. Purchase an unadorned collar. Decorate the collar with rhinestones, plastic beads, shells, or buttons attached with non-toxic craft glue.
3. Make your own collar with a length of twill tape, suede, leather or plastic one half inch wide. Sew or staple D rings or a buckle to one end. Adorn with rhinestones, beads, shells or buttons attached with non-toxic craft glue.
4. String your favorite beads on a length of elastic thread large enough to slip over the cat's head when tied in a knot at the ends. Add a few charms, if you like. The necklace should fit comfortably around your cat's neck, but tight enough to prevent it from snagging anything that may cause strangulation.
