Set the scene for your Valentine's events.
Many amorous individuals enjoy celebrating Valentine's Day with a banquet. When decorating for a Valentine's banquet, it is imperative that you craft a space that adequately conveys the emotion of love. With simple accents scattered around the space, you can create an atmosphere ideal for the blossoming of new love and the smoldering of previously established romantic embers.
Red and Pink Linens
Cover your space with Valentine's-themed hues by selecting red and pink linens. Red and pink are representative of love, and the mixing of these two hues makes it immediately obvious what emotion you are trying to convey. When setting your banquet tables, cover half with red linens and the other half with pink. Then place napkins of the alternating color on each clothed table.
Cupid's Arrow Centerpieces
Make a reference to the sprightly Cupid with Cupid's arrow centerpieces. Place a glass vase in the center of each of your tables. Fill the bottom of these vases with plastic hearts or conversation heart candies. Using dowel rods and construction paper, craft arrows with heart shaped tips. Place a quiver of these arrows in each vase to finish off your table-top decoration.
Heart Candles
Candlelight sets the perfect scene for love. Purchase an assortment of heart-shaped candles, and set these accessories alight. Place them around your banquet space to help create mood lighting that is just right for your event. When placing your candles, aim to keep them back from the edges of surfaces and out of guest walkways to ensure that no one accidentally has a run-in with these flaming accents.
Hanging Hearts
Allow love to pour down from the ceiling with hanging hearts. Cut hearts out of red and pink paper, and suspend these cut shapes from your ceiling using a translucent twine. Placing these accents over your dance floor or buffet table is a great way to define your space and add interest to these otherwise boring areas.
Bouquet Buffet Table Accents
Finish off your banquet with some floral accents. Place bouquets heavy in red and pink flowers along your buffet table. Select any flower that fits within your budget, as inexpensive carnations will work just as well as pricier roses. Display your bouquets in pink, red or clear vases to give the touch an air of elegance.
