Help Make Your Own Manicure Package

Add more to your manicure kit than just scissors and clippers.

To make your own manicure kit, you do not need much more than a sturdy bag and a few supplies. Making your own manicure kit is an ideal way to house all of your manicure supplies so you can do your own manicures at home. When you do your own manicures, you can give yourself nice, clean-looking nails without having to pay the price for a manicurist.

Instructions

1. Find a large enough bag to house your supplies. Use a plastic zipper bag. Using a plastic bag makes it easy to clean up any spills. The zipper on the bag ensures that none of your supplies fall out.

2. Put a few inches of rubbing alcohol in a bowl. Place a pair of tweezers and nail clippers in the bowl. Let the items soak for a few seconds. Pull the items out of the bowl and dry thoroughly with a clean towel. Soaking your tools in alcohol eliminates dirt and bacteria on the tools. Soaking your tools before putting them in the bag helps reduce contamination of other items in the bag. Place your tweezers and nail clippers in the bag.

3. Fill a plastic sandwich bag with clean cotton balls. Seal the bag at the top. The sandwich bag is big enough to hold a lot of cotton balls without taking up too much room in your kit. You can also refill the bag as your supply depletes. Place the sandwich bag in your manicure bag.

4. Open a travel-sized cotton swab holder. Put a handful of orange sticks in the holder. Close the holder. Label the holder "orange sticks." You can write this on a piece of tape or use a label-maker. Keeping your orange sticks in a cotton-swab holder keeps them together and prevents them from falling down into the manicure bag.

5. Get another travel-sized cotton swab holder. Place your cotton swabs in the holder and label it "cotton swabs." This keeps all of your swabs together and easy to find if you need them.

6. Include a travel-sized pack of nail files in the kit. You can also simply add a pack of regular files to the kit. If possible, invest in a glass nail file. These files work better than regular files. Keep the glass nail file in a plastic cover when not in use.

7. Add a small bottle of nail polish remover to the manicure bag. You can substitute nail polish remover packets for the bottle of remover if your bag is not that big.

8. Place a few small bottles of nail polish in the kit. Include a clear nail polish for your top and bottom coats and a couple of colors of your choosing. If your bag is smaller, you can opt for nail polish pens.
