Make Free Hair Bows for Little Girls
Hair bows are cute additions to any outfit--and very easy to make at home. By using your own ribbons and creating your own hair bows, not only do you save money on premade hair or clothing accessories, but you also have greater control over the color, size and shape of your bow.
Instructions
1. Obtain a roll of wide ribbon and a roll of narrow ribbon. If there are no rolls of ribbon lying around in your home, you may choose to cut ribbons from other pieces of fabric, such as unused tablecloths, sheets or clothing.
2. Cut a desired length of ribbon. (For example, you may choose to cut an 8-inch long piece of 1-inch wide ribbon.) Lay the ribbon horizontally on a desk or surface.
3. Loosely fold the left end of the ribbon diagonally, down and to the right. Also fold the right end of the ribbon diagonally, down and to the left. Allow the two ends to cross each other; the resulting shape of the ribbon should resemble the form of a breast cancer ribbon. (See Resources.)
4. Gently press the center of the loop down behind the crossed ends of the ribbon. It should now resemble the shape of a standard gift bow, with two loops and two tails.
5. Cut a short length of narrow ribbon and tie it around the center of the bow, between the left and right loops (and between the left and right tails). Tie it securely so that the bow is able to maintain its shape.
